Donate To The Scottish Rite Dyslexia Center

We focus on the evaluation and treatment of dyslexia in children in Austin and Central Texas by providing dyslexia evaluations and free effective instruction to children. The Scottish Rite Dyslexia Center also offers nationally accredited, comprehensive dyslexia therapist training to educators.

The Scottish Rite Dyslexia Center offers training with a proven research-based, multi-sensory approach for learning the basic language skills of reading, writing, and spelling to children at no cost to the families. The center also provides seminars, workshops and resources for educators and parental consultation.

AN INTRODUCTION TO LANGUAGE FOUNDATIONS Friday, March 30, 2012 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
A curriculum workshop for Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs) - Language Foundations is a comprehensive, balanced approach to the basics of language arts instruction in the elementary classroom. Language Foundations is well aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge Skills (TEKS) for English Language Arts and Readiing and can be used for Tier 2 and 3 instruction at any level. LANGUAGE FOUNDATIONS-
FIVE DAY COURSE - Winter Course 2012: Saturdays - January 14, 21, and 28; February 4 and 18, Summer Courses 2012: June 11-15 and July 30 - August 3.
Appropriate for Elementary Teachers, Special Education Teachers, and Reading
Specialists. Language Foundations is a prerequisite for Academic Language Practitioner Training (limited enrollment). For more information/application, click here.

ACADEMIC LANGUAGE PRACTITIONER TRAINING- August 2012 - May 2013 Appropriate for Reading Specialists and Tier II & III Intervention. Prerequisite: Language Foundations Five Day Course. For more information/application, click here.
DYSLEXIA THERAPIST TRAINING PROGRAM - First Year Introductory Course Monday, July 9, 2012 - Friday, July 27, 2012. For individuals with a college degree. This two-year comprehensive training is designed for teachers of students with dyslexia using research based, proven intervention techniques and is accredited by the International Multisensory Structural Language Educational Council (IMSLEC). PRE-FLIGHT - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, February 14 through May 10, 2012 - An introduction for young students to Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia. Early intervention for Kindergarten and 1st graders at risk for or diagnosed with Dyslexia. For more information/application, click here.
